Saturday, September 13, the 2nd KNVB cup match was on the schedule. After the resounding 3-1 away victory at KDO last Saturday, expectations were high. <\/p>\n\n
Since today’s opponent is not a high-flyer, Brian warned during the pre-match talk to especially avoid falling into the trap of underestimation. Brian’s match briefing was clear and straightforward for the players, and afterwards there were few questions. The task: start sharp right from kick-off and immediately put pressure on the opponent in their own half. <\/p>\n\n
At 2:30 PM, the kick-off took place under the guidance of a well-whistling young talented referee. After the first whistle, one thing was clear; we were ready for battle<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n After 3 minutes, the ball was already in DSK’s net following a beautiful attack down the right flank and good finishing by Benjamin. But unfortunately, the goal didn’t count due to offside… <\/p>\n\n Our organization was good. From the back, quick combinations were used to immediately find the free man, and that paid off in the 6th minute with the deserved 1-0 by none other than Benjamin – he had his sights set this afternoon. <\/p>\n\n Less than 4 minutes later, the ball was in the opponent’s net again, and as I said, Benjamin was on point and the tally was at 2. VVC continued to press with well-executed football and kept DSK under constant pressure. Within fifteen minutes, the score could be extended to 3-0. After a perfect quick run by Jamil on the right, who was illegally brought down in the box, a penalty followed. Unfortunately, Benjamin didn’t convert it this time. But, given the flow of the game, the next goals couldn’t be far off. <\/p>\n\n Shortly after missing the penalty, it became 3-0 through an own goal after just over fifteen minutes. Then the goals quickly rained down on VVC’s side. In the 19th minute, it was Jarno’s turn, who replaced the injured Tom as striker, to put his name on the 4-0. This again after good work by Jamil who consistently outplayed his opponent. <\/p>\n\n DSK couldn’t “make a fist” against VVC’s good play. During the first half, it was Benjamin again who brought the score to 6-0. The 5th or 6th – I’m not sure anymore – was of such beauty that, as far as I’m concerned, it’s already nominated for goal of the year. <\/p>\n\n The only “small blemish” of criticism was that just before half-time, DSK scored out of nowhere (due to not covering properly). <\/p>\n\n During the break, some substitutions were made on our side. Naut came in place of Julius and Benjamin was rested and replaced by Tim. <\/p>\n\n After the break, our side’s “hunger” for the ball was somewhat satisfied. What do you expect with a 6-1 score in our favor? DSK wanted to, but was not able to cause us any problems. <\/p>\n\n Although the sharpness was somewhat less than before the break, there was still the drive to further extend the score. And that’s what happened. In the last 20 minutes, we scored four more times. This with two goals from Jamil, one from Tim and a wonderfully beautiful free kick from Kay that went into the top corner. I hope I haven’t shortchanged anyone by not mentioning their name… <\/p>\n\n Final score 10-1 victory! <\/p>\n\n The final conclusion is that everyone scored a solid pass this afternoon.
